We are so excited to invite families to a truly special event centered around inclusion, connection, and fun, our Sensory-Friendly Family Swim in partnership with Goldfish Swim School!
As a parent, educator, and co-author of What Makes Me Awesome: An Autism Acceptance Story, creating safe and welcoming spaces for children of all abilities is deeply personal to me. This event is more than just a swim, it’s an opportunity for families to experience joy, comfort, and community in an environment designed with their needs in mind.
Why This Event Matters
For many families of children with sensory sensitivities, typical environments can feel overwhelming. That’s why sensory-friendly experiences are so important. They create space for children to explore, learn, and engage, at their own pace, without pressure.
This event is designed to do just that.
What to Expect
Families who attend can look forward to:
- Open family swim in a supportive, low-stimulation environment
- An awesome read-aloud of What Makes Me Awesome: An Autism Acceptance Story
- A water safety presentation to build confidence and awareness
- Sensory-friendly touches to promote comfort and ease
- Snacks, raffles, and time to connect with other families
Whether your child is new to the water or already loves to swim, this experience is all about building confidence, trust, and positive memories.
A Personal Connection
Our son is part of the Goldfish Swim School Golden Learners program, and we’ve seen firsthand the impact of patient instruction, encouragement, and understanding. Watching his confidence grow in the water has been incredible, and it’s one of the reasons this partnership means so much to our family.
