We were honored to partner with Beyond the Classroom, an organization founded by Dr. Lisa Ambers with the mission to expose children and young adults to people, places, and experiences they may not easily encounter in their everyday lives. Operating across multiple schools in Charles County Public Schools, Beyond the Classroom expands access, broadens perspectives, and builds real-world confidence.
At this school location, the Butterflies Mentoring Club is led by school librarian Mrs. Jessica Wall, who guides young girls through leadership development, mentorship, and community-building.
During our visit, we highlighted how our leadership voice at The Ausome Village centers on promoting autism awareness and acceptance. The girls shared stories about loved ones with autism, their strengths, personalities, and challenges, reflecting empathy, curiosity, and care.
Together, we discussed what it means to be a learner, how to set personal goals, and the importance of identifying accountability partners who can support growth along the way.
Programs like Beyond the Classroom are shaping future leaders, and we are grateful to contribute to that mission by encouraging both awareness and compassion.
